The  land of contrast, with the richest and the poorest.  A place where a mercedes car and a bullock-cart plies on the same road.  An incredible land where the whole breadth and length of a railway track is a latrine pit. This is where family’s honor/ reputation is more important than a human’s life. It is a place where people are topped in the world for a peculiar reasons like longest nail, longest beard and moustache. The longest constitution with the longest court cases. The largest democracy with a failed democratic principles and values. The place on earth where a guy with a criminal background could become a legislator or a bureaucrat.  On the verge of celebrating its 65^th anniversary of Independence  still ruled and run by a woman of foreign origin. Soaked in the dominance of the west for more than a century, perhaps foreign affection is hard to let it go.

Is India a free and sovereign nation destined to carry a foreign legacy in its own state? The copied constitution of the west, the British made laws and style of administration, the foreign cultures and ways of living with Indian standard. I believe all those foreign legacies are not enough to run a country with a 21 billion plus population with a wide diversities. Isn’t this true when our laws has no relevance for solving a messed up murder case? We have laws which can be used as a cover to hide powerful people from their crime.  A constitution which can be amended on a purpose of concealing fault and error.  A representative, powerful than electors, where he can have all the people at their feet and almost worship him. Didn’t we realize we are living in the biggest democratic country where  the majority are powerful than the minority?

THOSE WERE THE DAYS.....

                               

 Those were the days  just a silly toys or games  were more important than a future. Needs at the moment were all that mattered. A must to attend school was the biggest worries. There was never a better day other than a holiday. Morning breakfast was a blessing but having a strength to continue for a school were considered as a curse. Left our home unwillingly for school was a day to day life.  

The first bell of our school was the sound I hate the most. The sound of the bell implies the end of our liberty. Entering the classroom was deemed  as sending ourselves into prison. Day dreaming inside the class was the remedy and relief for all those tensions. Thinking about what I should do after the school was what kept me moving during the whole day at school. There is nothing beautiful than the sound of the last bell. It was often celebrated with  a huge noise and a sounding joy. It is a freedom bell from a slavery of books and lessons. The last prayer were  sang , rushing back home chanting and shouting was fun. There was  nothing  greater or valuable than those moment of joy and happiness.

Having a physical difficulties  which can give us a day off  was a fortune. I often feel envious to those   who couldn’t turn up at school due to some health problems. I sometimes wish that I could be more like them. Thanks God it doesn’t happened. The words school, teachers, books, lessons and homework   were the things that irritate me the most. Singing and drawing were  my  favorite class. Not because I am good at it, it doesn’t require much  effort  to pass . We considered most of  our teachers   as our enemy. As far as I remembered   I was never left alone when stuff like penalty or punishment is imposed.  I hardly had a day I gone through without punishment  at  school  . The day we ended up in detention was like carrying all the curse and burden on our shoulder. Lie was sometimes a  good  defense from  punishment.  It was like a loyal friend who never left  us . People  named  it “white lie” when they wanted to make use of it. Perhaps I am the one  who  has the most advantages  of it  at home and school.
