incredible india

The  land of contrast, with the richest and the poorest.  A place where a mercedes car and a bullock-cart plies on the same road.  An incredible land where the whole breadth and length of a railway track is a latrine pit. This is where family’s honor/ reputation is more important than a human’s life. It is a place where people are topped in the world for a peculiar reasons like longest nail, longest beard and moustache. The longest constitution with the longest court cases. The largest democracy with a failed democratic principles and values. The place on earth where a guy with a criminal background could become a legislator or a bureaucrat.  On the verge of celebrating its 65th anniversary of Independence  still ruled and run by a woman of foreign origin. Soaked in the dominance of the west for more than a century, perhaps foreign affection is hard to let it go.
Is India a free and sovereign nation destined to carry a foreign legacy in its own state? The copied constitution of the west, the British made laws and style of administration, the foreign cultures and ways of living with Indian standard. I believe all those foreign legacies are not enough to run a country with a 21 billion plus population with a wide diversities. Isn’t this true when our laws has no relevance for solving a messed up murder case? We have laws which can be used as a cover to hide powerful people from their crime.  A constitution which can be amended on a purpose of concealing fault and error.  A representative, powerful than electors, where he can have all the people at their feet and almost worship him. Didn’t we realize we are living in the biggest democratic country where  the majority are powerful than the minority?

The fascinating cultures of the west has quietly invade us, robbed us and again drain our wealth while we are comfortably embracing their fancy styles. Imitating them become a natural phenomenon. The believed and trust of foreign goods to be so special , gradually drives the population wild like the West. India become cheap for an educated and high class Indian to live in. Leaving India and  making a jokes out of it. Westernization has deepened it roots and continue to sweep the left-over or the NRI wannabes which makes them stammered without a single English word in their sentences. Being western in taste and styles is considered to be unique and vogue. We didn’t realize we are following the path of a country that never exist the time our civilization was one of the world greatest.
The mania of Westernization continue to rock our nation leaving no one behind starting from the tribes to the Bollywood star, from school kids to the senior citizens. Believe it or not you will find a Hindu boy with a name John. A son name Johnson from a father surname Kumar or Singh. The youth from an urban area will be proud and more confident wearing a t-shirt with a words NY or LA written on it rather than the words Delhi or Mumbai on their shirts. It will be ridiculous wearing something like Mumbai or Delhi written on our shirts because people will brand you as being archaic or old-fashioned. We can’t even name some of the events or stuff without copying theirs. 26/11 from 9/11 , Bollywood from Hollywood, Indian Idol from American Idol and IPL from Barclay (English) Premiere League. I don’t really think we used all these because of convenience. Can’t we give some other name of our own? Can’t we set an example to others rather than copying them? We respect them too much probably we don’t keep it for our own. We Indian are known for our hospitality and warmth to the outsiders. I doubted whether  we did that out of our humanity. We respect them so much because we think they are superior to us. Aren’t we?  Foreigner are treated well and nice, nurture them with all the possible care but the irony is we failed to recognize our own fellow Indian belonging to a minority.
A  charming democracy  under the umbrella of globalization has been the propaganda offered by the west. In reality, a justice system which took a lifetime to get justice, a human rights where a common man’s rights has been nailed on the ground. A corrupt system and a dirty administration, a greed and lust for a dollar are what they left. The mess and chaos are where they dragged us.  We are on our way of making our country a photocopy or a duplicate West. Why don’t we just let them have their own styles, their traditions, their cultures and all their practices? Let them have it and we’ll have our own.  They might want us to be more like them, they might also try to make India like the Wild West. It is us who can stop them from it. We are not the West but we are the Incredible India. Are we going to give them whatever they want from us? Are we still continue to let them take away whatever they want from us?  Wake up India!
